Even though coaching is more widely known and accepted these days, there can still be blank looks when I tell someone that I am a life coach. And it’s not always easy to explain! So here are three quotations that can help illustrate a few of the many possibilities that coaching can bring.
“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” – Albert Camus
We all have inner wisdom and strength. We all have times when we can’t access those innate qualities or even believe they are part of who we are. Coaching can help us acknowledge our strengths, reflect on ways our wisdom does already shine through, and explore additional ways to be resilient.
“My perspective will create my perception.” Neale Donald Walsch
Our beliefs and thinking shape how we view any situation and thus how we react. Challenging our beliefs can change the way we view the world and ourselves. Furthermore, by understanding that we can all hold differing viewpoints, we can be more accepting and less judgmental about others. And that can make communication easier and reduce your stress levels.
“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” Confucius
We can often set ourselves large goals, or be given major projects, and find ourselves feeling overwhelmed. This can lead to procrastination or paralysis if we don’t know where to start. Breaking down the goal into small practical steps shows it is possible to achieve the task. And making a start, however small, reduces resistance to the work required and will often provide the motivation to continue.

I will be posting further quotes over the next few weeks.
Very insightful quotes and, whilst we can sit and nod at the meaning, to hold those sentiments within us at all times is very hard. We easily fall back into our old patterns without stopping to utilise the skills and learning that has been presented to us.
Which is where a coach can help to keep you on track towards where you actually want to go.
I love your use of quotes here. Your coaching wisdom shines through these words. The third quote really resonated with me.
Through coaching I have learnt to break things down and pace myself. It is the time of year to get out in the garden and rather than breaking my back from spending a day in the garden (old pattern) I have chosen to spend an hour a day out there. The difference is so noticeable for me and the garden. Thank you for the reminders of how coaching can help us in so many ways.
I really like these quotes, particularly the Albert Camus one. A coach can be a gentle guiding hand who can help you move through life with strength when everything around you and internally can feel like chaos. Being coached myself has helped me to slow down and make more sensible, less emotional decisions that help move me forward in a mature way.
